Meet Andy Gill
Andy began his sea kayak journey on the South China sea working for Outward Bound Hong Kong. Since then he splits his time coaching and guiding between Scotland and the glacial fjords of Southern Patagonia.
Andy is an Advanced Sea Kayak Leader, Winter Mountain Leader ,Rock Climbing Instructor and Wilderness First Responder among many other skills. Scotland will always be his number one destination for sea kayaking. There is so much diversity in such a small area: from white sandy beaches and peaceful island archipelagos, to steep imposing cliffs and speedy tide races.
Andy loves to push himself through the endurance side of sea kayaking, getting into the rhythm and seeing how far you can travel in a day, week or month. Although don’t worry he’s just as happy to tailor the pace to suit you too. He loves being able to escape the crowds by accessing places normally difficult to get to, and seeing the marine life that lives there. His most memorable recent Scottish day trip was landing at the beautiful Kearvaig bothy next to Cape Wrath. His most special wildlife encounter: dolphins illuminated by bioluminescence. Number one place on his wish list: a crossing to and from St Kilda.
