This was absolutely the best experience we have had. Not only did we learn so much about kayaking techniques (which was such a game changer) but we had the most informative and interesting tour of the summer isles. He is a very experienced and knowledgeable guide and shared many interesting anecdotes of his worldwide expeditions. Coffee & hot chocolate with sprinkles and marsh mallows during our lunch break rounded off a perfect experience!

I have now kayaked with Will on two separate occasions. The first was in May 2018 when Will took us paddling round the Summer Isles. He had just driven from the South with his new fleet of P&H Sea Kayaks. These together with very nice Werner paddles which we could feather and Kokatat dry trousers and cags made us look like pro’s and the quality kit greatly enhanced our experience. Will’s knowledge of birds and marine wildlife was excellent. We spotted barrel jellyfish, a porpoise and a red throated diver amongst many other birds, seals etc. This experience was so good that I persuaded friends to come with us the following year when in May 2019 we joined Will and Erin (from Evoke Adventure) for a Paddle Pick Up to clear plastic from beaches on the Summer Isles. Will is a brilliant guide – efficient at kitting you out and getting you on the water pdq, lots of helpful hints on paddling technique as you kayak along, and a wonderful commentary on the local geology and wildlife throughout the day.
“Will was a very professional guide that went out of his way to find a location for us to paddle in due to adverse weather. He gave us very detailed tips on how to manage our kayaks and was patient and friendly. We saw one of the biggest seal colonies in Scotland and paddled to a beautiful island with white sandy beaches. We couldn’t have been happier. I have done several kayaking trips, but I feel like I learned to kayak properly that day. I highly recommend doing some kayaking with Will. It was the highlight of our trip.”
We had a fantastic day on our sea kayaking adventure around the Summer Isles – it was by far, the best trip I have ever experienced! The islands are stunning and the coastlines we explored were simply breathtaking! We had some special encounters with grey seals and sea birds and explored an amazing variety of seaweeds, lichens and sea creatures such as urchins and starfish up close and personal. Will, made us feel really safe and confident on the water, even when we were paddling backwards into epic caves! His knowledge of the diversity of the marine life and the islands themselves was fantastic and really appreciated. Whatever the weather, you’re in for a once in a lifetime experience! “This was the third time that I have been out sea kayaking with Will Copestake. Earlier this year I joined a one day trip with a friend and his 16 year old stepson and Will was a very good instructor and handled everything well, as I would expect. This is his stock-in-trade. Far more impressive to me has been how Will has handled two expeditions involving half a dozen former (or still serving) Royal Marines on what is now looking like it will become an annual 30 mile paddle. These guys are not easily impressed but on both expeditions all of those involved were very impressed with his expertise, local knowledge, firm but clear leadership and excellent judgement. 7 new people are booked in again next year for this same paddle, out to Priest Island (see book “Paying for the Past” by Geoff Green) – and I should add that we camp out for one night. Highly Recommended.

“I’ve been in a kayak before, but this was my first time sea kayaking, and it could not have been more perfect! Will was an excellent guide, pointing out the wildlife and explaining the geology of the landscape. He also gave me several tips to improve my kayaking skills. During a break at rocky beach,Will pulled a camp kettle out of his kayak and whipped up the best hot chocolate I’ve ever had! All in all, it was the best day of my 2-week trek through Scotland. I’ll definitely be back”
